We had a small cookout last weekend as part of a day-long event at Area 15, that was itself part of the week-long Southern Holiday festival.
After burgers and beer, we set up a makeshift set in front of one of Area 15’s outdoor sculptures, and got an assembled group of local art community members talking about a number of things, including how they fund their art, and in general, how they feel about Charlotte’s art scene.
Our guests were (from left to right):
- Manoj Kesavan, Point 8
- Carlos Espin, Area 15
- Iris WIlliamson, Dugg Dugg
- Desiree Kane, CLT Blog (moderator)
- Joel Tracey, Culture Initiative
- Arthur Brouthers, Culture Initiative
- Matt Cosper, Machine Theatre
Given a last-minute decision to tape the podcast outside, I had to “rough it”, hand-holding a camera front and center to properly capture the otherwise extremely wide-angle panel. I think it gives the recording an intimate feel, and I’ll be experimenting with this method more for future podcasts.
