CLT Blog and Packard Place to catalog Charlotte’s startups in new video series
Posted on 21 Feb 2012 by Justin Ruckman
There’s no denying that Charlotte’s startup scene is alive and growing. Some recent notable success stories have proven that our local community is ripe with fresh ideas and talented leadership.
Take a look at next week’s “Startups at Packard” meetup, a simple social gathering for local entrepreneurs in conjunction with Hackers & Founders: already 65 people registered, and 31 companies represented.
Even a relatively local-startup-savvy guy like me has trouble keeping track of all the players in town, so what does that say about the average Charlottean? It’s time to chronicle our city’s startups, and tell our stories not just for Charlotte, but for the rest of the world as well.
CLT Blog and Packard Place have teamed up to produce a video series doing just that. We’ll be hosting periodic shoots at WTVI’s studios on Commonwealth, capturing and indexing our community’s startups by having them join us to do the following:
- give us a 5-minute (or less) pitch
- participate in a brief, casual interview
The end product will hopefully be the most comprehensive record of Charlotte’s startups to date, and a tool to further market our community’s strength and potential.
Our first shoot is Saturday March 24, from 10 AM — 3 PM, at WTVI (3242 Commonwealth Ave). If your company or organization is interesting in participating, fill out the form below to let us know! We’ll get you on the schedule.
Had to use that picture… haha
We’ll probably start using that picture instead of our logo, or at least the image of Jon giving the thumbs up.

Great idea! Can’t wait to see how this develops. Should create some great buzz around town!
Justin.. Checking to see if our registration form for the TV shoot “posted”.. I don’t recall seeing a confirm-email. Could, be on our side — just want to make sure you have us in your queue. Thanks.
Yeah was making sure of the same thing as Reddick, I signed up again to make sure sorry for the inconvenience.

That was a really good time. Thanks again for including us!
