Weekend events under the radar

While you may have heard of the St. Patrick’s Day parade in uptown, the massive bar crawl being filmed by the Travel Channel, and the weekend’s best parties, here are several events you may not have heard about. Edit: Due to the impending bad weather, the St. Patrick’s Day parade has been rescheduled to Saturday, March 21st.
Laced Up — New shoe collections on display by Puma, Niche, Blacksheep, and a series of Vans customized by a group of handpicked artists along with live music. 10PM Thursday at The Forum, uptown.
The Charlotte Bobcats, battling for a playoff spot, take on Yao Ming and the Houston Rockets. Five dollar tickets are available with college ID. Game time is 7PM Friday at TWC arena, uptown.
The Charlotte Checkers host “Go Mean, Go Green” night Saturday. The Checkers will wear special green jerseys that will be auctioned off following the game to raise money for a variety of local environmental initiatives. Also, show your Saturday ticket stub and your LYNX ticket on Sunday and receive a free ticket to that game. Games times are Saturday at 7PM and Sunday at 4PM at TWC arena, uptown.
Saturday on Sunday — Live music, art, and skateboarding festival at Saturday Skatesboard’s indoor skatepark. Food, drink, art and screen printed shirts available. 6PM Sunday at 1111 Hawthorne Lane, Plaza-Midwood.
