AIGA Charlotte’s Design for Good Poster Initiative wants local inspiration in the form of a poster

Design for Good is an AIGA initiative that employs the power of creativity and design to improve the human experience culturally, socially, environmentally and economically. It aims to channel designers, and their creative talent, toward community needs and demonstrate how design and design thinking can make a difference.

For the next AIGA Charlotte event, the Design for Good Poster Initiative, we’re calling on the design community to create posters that will inform Charlotte citizens about environmental and social issues, and inspire them to create positive change in our growing city.

HOW DOES THIS WORK?

1. ATTEND MEET | MARKET
Wednesday, September 28, 2011 from 6:30 — 8:30p
Common Market Southend
Join your fellow design community for happy hour, mingling, tasty libations, and (most importantly) pick up your Design for Good Poster Creative Brief (relating to the environment OR social responsibility).

2. DESIGN A POSTER
Design a poster, relating to the Creative Brief you received at Meet | Market, that inspires the community to create positive change in Charlotte. The poster can be a type treatment, illustration, photograph, collage, watercolor etc. Posters made non-digitally must be submitted as scans in the proper format.

Requirements & Formatting:
Dimensions: 18″ x 24″
Color: Monochromatic (one color or shades of one color) using:
PMS 320 Uncoated (Aqua) for Environment Posters
PMS 185 Uncoated (Red) for Social Responsibility Posters
Format: Press Ready PDF, under 10 MB, 300ppi

3. SUBMIT BY OCTOBER 21
All monochromatic Press Ready PDF posters must be submitted to rmartin@aigacharlotte.org on or before FRIDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2011 BY 5:00PM to be included in the show. Posters will be displayed on AIGA Charlotte’s online gallery and be printed for the Gallery Exhibit Show on Friday, November 4, 2011. When submitting, please make sure to include your name and website.

4. ATTEND THE DESIGN FOR GOOD POSTER GALLERY SHOW
Friday, November 4, 2011 from 6:30 — 8:30p
Location Details Coming Soon!
Join your closest friends and colleagues to honor your hard work for Design for Good and view all of the submissions. We’ll be inviting the local non-profit community where you can meet the dedicated folks behind these environmental and socially responsible organizations. And, if you wish, share your poster with them for a future campaign to help raise awareness for their cause. Come out, celebrate the community and inspire Charlotte!
